Functional Rehabilitation

Occupational Therapy aims to enable a client to maximise their functional independence. They do this by focussing on the activities each client wants/needs to carry out. Functional rehabilitation is the process through which a client can regain some/all independence in their daily routine. The Occupational Therapist facilitates this by:

  • assessing your function
  • assessing the activities you need/want to be able to carry out
  • assessing the environment in which these activities will be carried out (usually your home)
  • providing advice and support on ways to carry out such activities safely and independently
  • recommending aids/equipment if required to assist wit carrying out such activities
  • creating a rehabilitation programme to maximise your function over a period of time

It is important to note that sometimes clients may not return to their previous level of function. However, this does not mean that they don’t regain independence. Corinna has years of experience in supporting clients to think outside the box and learn to carry out the same activity in a different way. This way may not be same as how they used to complete the activity but it may allow them to remain independent.

If you think Corinna can assist you or your loved one, don’t hesitate to contact her for a no obligation chat. She will be very happy to discuss your situation with you to determine whether she is most suited to help you.
