Dementia

Dementia affects approx 850,000 in the UK. It can affect both men and women and usually affects people over the age of 65 years. However it can also affect younger people. (Alzhiemers Society 2015).

Dementia is associated with memory loss but it can also affect problem solving, thinking and language. There is lots of information available through the Alzhiemers Society, Age UK etc on the various type of dementia, the causes, treatment etc.

Unfortunately, at the moment, dementia cannot be cure. People suffering from dementia and their families often turn to Occupational Therapists for advice on how to manage the challenges posed by memory loss on a daily basis e.g. forgetting to take medication, not being able to find things around the house, forgetting dates/appointments.
